Terms of Use

The basics

By downloading or using Roona—the app, its AI features, and roona.app (the “Service”)—you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. Roona is run by one independent developer, not a company (“we”, “us”). If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

Who can use Roona

You need to be at least 13 (or older if your country requires). If you're under the age that makes you an adult where you live, use Roona with a parent or guardian's involvement.

Your account

You can sign in with an email and password, with Google, or with Apple. Keep your login safe—you're responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it anytime from Profile → Settings → Delete account (see the Privacy Policy).

Roona Plus & subscriptions

Roona's journal is free and stays free: routines and check-offs, streaks, daily check-ins, progress photos, compare, your product shelf, and reminders all work on your device without paying anything. Cloud sync of your structured journal is included with every account at no cost.

Roona Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store or Google Play. It unlocks cloud backup and restore of your progress and scan photos, plus the AI suite: skin readings, skin trends, the AI routine builder, the shelf advisor, and weekly reports. Photo backup and restore require an active Plus subscription.

• Everyone gets one free AI skin reading. After that, readings need Plus.
• AI features have fair-use limits (a daily cap per account) so the costs stay sustainable. We may adjust them, but never so tightly that Plus stops being useful.
• If an introductory free trial is offered, payment is charged when the trial ends; otherwise payment is charged at confirmation of purchase. We never see your card.
• Eligible new annual subscribers on iOS may receive a 7-day free trial. The monthly plan has no trial. Availability and eligibility are shown in the app before you confirm.
• It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
• Cancel in your store settings—iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; Android: Play Store → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app doesn't cancel it, and neither does deleting your Roona account.
• Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Plus until the end of the paid period. After that your journal and its cloud sync keep working—photo backup pauses, and your existing photo backups stay until you delete them or your account.
• Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their policies.
• Prices are shown before you confirm and may change for future periods.

For Apple purchases, Apple's standard EULA also applies unless we show you a different one.

Your data

Your journal's working copy lives on your device. Signing in backs up your structured journal (routines, check-ins, products, notes, and profile) to our cloud on every account; progress and scan photos are backed up only with Plus.

When you request an AI reading, Roona's analysis service receives the scan photo and the journal context you consented to in request memory and does not write that analysis copy to Roona's database or object storage. It forwards them to OpenAI to produce the reading. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models by default, but may retain API inputs and outputs for abuse monitoring for up to 30 days, unless shorter or zero-retention controls apply, and may retain them longer when legally required. You can delete any scan and its reading from the app at any time. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Using Roona fairly

Please don't use Roona to break the law, upload photos of someone without their consent, or try to hack, overload, reverse-engineer, or abuse the Service or its usage limits (including the AI features). Just be reasonable.

Your content

Your routines, notes, and photos are yours—we don't claim ownership. You give us permission to store, back up, and process them only as needed to run the Service for you (like syncing your journal or running a reading you asked for). That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

AI & your skin

Readings are generated by our AI provider, OpenAI, from the photo and the journal context you choose to include. They're estimates and can be wrong. Always patch-test new products and see a qualified professional for any real skin concern. Skin reacts differently for everyone, so decisions about products and routines are your own—to the fullest extent allowed by law, we're not liable for any reaction or outcome from choices you make using the app.

What we can and can't promise

We want Roona to work well, but it's built by one developer and comes “as is,” without warranties. We can't promise it will be perfect, uninterrupted, or error-free, or that results (including AI outputs) will meet your expectations.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for anything related to the Service is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months or USD 50, whichever is greater. Some places don't allow these limits, so parts may not apply to you.

If there's a problem

Most things can be sorted out with a friendly email. Please contact support@roona.app first and give us a chance to make it right before starting any formal action. Any claim related to the Service should be brought within one year, to the extent the law allows.
